"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"
In the fall of 2012, I found myself at the end of a long road of heartbreak. After 3 pregnancy losses in 9 short months, I was convinced my body was broken and unable to carry a baby. I felt myself settle into the disappointment and the pain. I opted to live those days believing that God didn’t want me to have children, that for whatever reason, He didn’t believe I was equipped for it. I was living by a doctrine of lies, custom made by the enemy to feed on all my insecurities and keep me burdened by the chains of perceived failure. These were dark days.
But in these dark days, God pursued my heart in a way I had never experienced before. No matter how far I ran, He was still beckoning me to Him. Once I finally stopped running away, I found myself leaning into His word in a way I never had before. The promises in the Word began to leap out at me as though I had never read them, despite all the heavy highlighting on the creased pages. The words had life and meaning; for the first time I was experiencing the LIVING WORD of God.
Jeremiah 29:11 spoke to me so strongly in those days. The promise that God only wants to prosper me, never harm me ministered directly to my broken heart. These simple proclamations destroyed the web of lies the enemy had so expertly spun. And when I got pregnant for the 4th time, I began to speak these words out loud everyday. And my heart began to believe the promise. Despite the pain of the all-too-recent past, I began to be filled with unspeakable joy and excitement about my unborn child. I was living by God’s promises and finally releasing control over a situation that had nearly destroyed me. I chose to trust God. And I chose to trust that He was good.
When we align our hearts with God’s promises, we begin to see a supernatural shift in our natural circumstances. The Bible is filled with the promises of God and when we come to Him with hungry hearts, seeking after truth, He delivers promises to us that will speak directly to the broken and hurting parts of our spirit.
So, I encourage you to seek and find. Dig deep into God’s word and believe His promises. Speak them out over yourself, no matter how hard the words may be to get out. I promise you a heart-shift will follow. You will watch your testimony begin to take shape and watch miracles begin to happen. I am so blessed to be able to hug and kiss my miracle everyday. Her name is Emerson Rose and, as I constantly tell her, she is my favorite gift that God ever gave me. Praise God for His plans to prosper us, never to harm us. Praise God for giving us hope and a future!
