"After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will raise us up,
that we may live before him.
Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD;
his going out is sure as the dawn;
he will come to us as the showers,
as the spring rains that water the earth."
Ok, so you've made it to day three! And you're probably dreaming of pizza by now. Often after the first 48 hours this is can be the most physically challenging day of the fast. But don't give up.
As a former physical education teacher I know that our bodies are physically adapting in ways that are uncomfortable. You are no longer using sugars as your first energy source but now fats are being broken down in your bloodstream and expelled along with many built up toxins and metals. Remember this-if you are experiencing headaches, weakness and bad breath, it's all part of the transition, healing and cleansing of your body.
The number three in the bible represents resurrection. As Hosea implores Israel to return to God, may the third day also represent for you a re-turning to the Father, a dying to old habits and unhealthy thinking. This time of prayer and fasting is resurrecting new life, intimacy and authority in Jesus Christ. Be revived like showers that water the earth and press on!
