Romans 8:24-28 (MSG)

That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

Pregnancy is tough! The stretching, the enlarging, the waiting. Oh the waiting! I remember the days when my skin would hurt and itch as my 5ft 2" body incubated my little bundles of joy! I remember being tired, heavy and feeling impatient! But preparation takes time. It takes patience. As much as I complained, I fully understood that this waiting season was so necessary for our baby to be fully formed inside of me. The longer I waited until the appointed time, the more resilient, mature and healthy our baby would be. It's the same in the spirit. There are times when we cannot press fast forward on our lives. He is shaping us, changing us, teaching us, filling us up with His richness.

You may feel like you have something inside of you, incubating in your spirit. A dream. A new season perhaps. But yield to the process! The stretch is uncomfortable, tiring and trying but necessary! Yield to the process! Just like in the natural, a baby born prematurely is not a good situation. It's precarious. The baby's lungs and organs are underdeveloped making it difficult to sustain life. In the same way, don't jump in before God's appointed time, don't push doors down for yourself. It's been said: If something is born in the flesh it'll have to be sustained in the flesh.

But like that first contraction, when it comes it's sudden, and in His perfect timing! Don't be diminished in the waiting! Be joyfully expectant! Let faith fill your heart. He loves you more than you know! He has always had a plan for you! He's writing a beautiful story. Your story. Your story of how you yielded to the will of the Father and grew into the fullness of all He called you to be!

Hold on during the stretch. Hold on during the preparation time. Know that he is going to birth something amazing in your life for His glory! So go ahead and enjoy God's "waiting room". I look at my girls now and I'm so thankful for that time.

There's power in the process!
