Parent Pack

Dear Parents,

We are so excited for camp this July! As a team, we are preparing and praying, and know it is going to be a life-changing week for your student.

We have put together some information for you and your student in preparation for camp. We have included everything from packing lists to campground details. If you have any questions at all, you are welcome to reach out.

We are excited for all God has in store for our time together!

Sincerely,
Josh and Kayla Henry
Youth Pastors

GENERAL CAMPGROUND INFORMATION

WHERE:

Camp will take place at Sharptop Cove in Jasper, Georgia. The campground is 3.5 hours away. It is a beautiful location, surrounded by rolling hills and full of incredible activities and amenities.

CABINS:

Students will be placed in cabins with their grade level leaders and other students of the same gender close to their age. If your student is new, we are creating intentional time for them to meet their cabin mates and get to know leaders. They are going to love it!

LEADERS:

Students will always be accompanied by leaders when moving around the campground, and we have flashlights and golf carts on hand if needed.

SAFETY:

For any water related activities, there are lifeguards on duty and life jackets provided. We will also have a camp nurse who will be with us all week. If there are any injuries, we have every student’s emergency contact information and parents will be contacted so that a plan will be put into place (go to hospital, receive medication etc). We do everything possible to create a safe and enjoyable camp experience. The expectation is that nobody would get hurt, but we always want to have a plan just in case.

MONEY:

Sharptop Cove has a snack bar and store on site that will be open throughout the week. They take card and cash. If you would like your student to have access to either of these amenities, please send them with additional money for purchases. This is beyond all camp meals, which are included in registration.

DROP OFF + PICK UP INSTRUCTIONS

Address // The Belonging Co, 201 Great Circle Road Nashville TN 37228 (front doors)

We will be taking buses to and from camp!

STUDENT DROP OFF: Check-in will take place promptly at 9am on Tuesday, July 23.

Please arrive on time and pack your student a lunch to eat on the bus (no nuts please). We will be eating on the drive to camp. Please ensure that all forms are signed and balances are cleared before arriving, to make the check in process as efficient as possible. We will leave for camp at 10am.

Please note, if you plan to bring your student directly to the campground, this must be communicated in advance so we do not wait for them to arrive at church.

STUDENT PICK UP: We will return to TBCO by 1pm (approximate) on Saturday, July 27. Please plan to be in contact with your student (or a leader) for exact arrival times. It could vary slightly based on departure time and traffic.

MEDICATION

If your student is bringing medication to camp, our camp nurse will connect with you before we leave on the 23th. You can expect a phone call from her. If you have any questions or would like Steph to hold onto your student’s medication throughout camp, please communicate that to her in advance. Steph will connect with cabin leaders to ensure adults are aware of any medication needs throughout the week.

CELL PHONE POLICY

We are implementing a strict cell phone policy at camp this year with the primary purpose being that we really want students to be able to disconnect from everyday life and be fully present with what God is doing at camp.

We highly encourage you to not send your students with a phone this year. If students do bring a phone, we will be keeping them in a secure lockbox in every grade level cabin that leaders have access to.

Phones will be allowed during afternoon free time each day only and accessible by asking a leader to retrieve the phone. We understand that taking pictures and capturing memories is important, and we want to create space for that to happen. Phones must be turned back in before dinner. There will be absolutely no phones during cabin time or sessions and if students are caught with phones outside of the allotted window, we will respectfully take them away for the remainder of camp.

Parents will have access to our youth pastor’s phone numbers, as well as all of the contact information for the camp, in case of emergency. We highly encourage parents to talk to their students about these restrictions before coming to camp, so that it can be a great experience for everyone.

CONTACT INFO

Your student will/can have their phones during allocated hours (mentioned above). If you need to urgently get a hold of someone at camp, leaders will have their phones at all times and will be available all week. Below are our youth pastor’s phone numbers that you can store.

Josh Henry: 281-782-8332

Kayla Henry: 281-772-3179

If you have any medical related questions throughout the week, you are welcome to reach out to our camp nurse, Caroline Tajnai. Her number is: 224-456-2652

As a last resort, you are welcome to call the campground landline. Please note the camp offices are not close to where we will be staying, so it is not a great primary option for getting a hold of us. Sharptop Cove landline: 706-692-5635
